How did physically acting out help to explore ideas?

Our group choose the topic as current problem of sleeping in aero plane. Since its common problem for everyone travelling in economy class it’s easy for the team members to relate and come up with the problems. We have start writing all the problems in the sheet of paper as a first step and then we arrange the lab chairs as a seats of plane and we sit and start thinking the problem.

Its fair different experience to explore the idea as acting physically than brainstorming in the piece of paper. We could understand the gap in our idea in real world such as seat size and the arrangement of seat, reclaiming problems, eating/watching, etc.

Always its a good idea to do the body storming as part of the ideation.

Did you refine your ideas and solutions to the problem through body storming? In what way?

Yes, initially we thought of suggesting the moving the chairs upward or downward wheels to give the space to the passengers seated in the middle or window site to get in or go out for rest room without affecting the person next to him. Then only we noticed that will be problem with real-estate. It might need more space in the air craft where they will end up with less passenger seating. Then we though pf having spinning chair which you can turn and give spaces to the passengers. Also its east to turn and have a chat with the person in the back seat when we travel with big family/friends.

The key idea was to have the hoots for all the seats where the passenger can wear the hooded glass cover which joined to the seat.

•  It will give a private space to watch movie
• You can make dark to sleep without getting disturbed with common lights
• You can have private reading lights to read books.
• Adjust the air-condition testing as per your choice
• Can set mild fragrance as per your choice.

Hoods will make a private comfort travelling/sleeping experience in the aero plane.

What was difficult or challenging about body storming?

Limited probes to prototype the idea. Just we got the seats nothing else to create the hoots or other options to do prototype.

Does bodystorming lend itself to certain types of problems?

Bodystroming has a problem of setup the environment to match the problem domain.We should feel the real problematic environment in some way to think about the problem and ideate the solution where brainstorming not required anything.
